“In Their Words

How it works

Two minutes. Every word theirs.

A short video interview with your kid about someone they love — or about themselves. You don't write anything, edit anything, or upload anything. Ask, film, keep.

  1. Ask

Pick who they're talking about — Daddy, Grandma, anyone they love — or pick Themselves. Bella, our interviewer, asks five questions out loud, or you read them yourself. Nothing to memorize.

  2. Film

You hold the phone and stay quiet. Every answer is recorded exactly as they say it, wild ones included. Redo any answer with one tap; a silent one gets a second chance, never a cheer.

  3. Keep

Two minutes, and the film is yours: their words on screen, a poster of their best line in one of three designs, and a link that plays on any phone. Save the video, share the link, fix a word — then ask them about someone else.

  • The film

About a minute long, their exact words on screen, with a title card and an ending that holds. Save it to your phone; it plays anywhere, no app needed.

  • The poster

Their best line as the headline, every other answer beneath it, in one of three designs. Tap any answer to fix the words and the film follows. Save it, print it, frame it.

  • The link

One link plays the film and shows the poster. Send it in a text; whoever you send it to needs nothing but a phone.

  • The next one

At the end the app asks who they love most and offers the next interview about that person. Same two minutes, a whole new film.

The one they do about themselves

Pick Themselves on the setup page and choose their age. Bella asks the same five questions every year — the film is titled with their name and age, and the answers change while the questions never do.

  • Who's your best friend? What do you want to be when you grow up? What's your favorite food? What's the best thing about being four? Who do you love the most?
  • A year later we email you to do it again, one age older, and the two films sit side by side on a Then & Now poster.
  • The last answer becomes the next interview: whoever they love most, the app offers to ask them about that person next.

Questions grown‑ups ask

How long does it take?

About two minutes to film five answers, and the film is ready right away. Most families are watching it before the kid has wandered off.

What age works best?

Three to eight is the sweet spot. Two-year-olds are gold in small doses; older kids ham it up, which is its own kind of keepsake.

Can they talk about themselves?

Yes. Pick Themselves and their age, and Bella asks the same five questions every year. The film is titled with their name and age, a reminder arrives a year later, and the years sit side by side on a Then & Now poster.

Is it private?

Yes. Only people you send the link to can watch. Films are never listed anywhere and never searchable, and you can delete one at any time.

Can we redo an answer?

Yes. Tap Redo while you film, or fix the words on the poster afterwards and the film updates itself.

What if they say nothing?

If nobody says anything, the app asks whether you want to try again, keep it, or skip it. Bella never says "good job" to dead air.

Can I save the video to my phone?

Yes. Save video under the film hands you the exact file — Save Video on an iPhone, a download elsewhere. Copy link sends the watch page instead.

Do I need an app?

No. It works in the browser on any phone. Add it to your Home Screen for a one-tap start and a proper icon.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Films, posters and links are free. You can try it without an account; sign in to keep your films forever and find them on every device.
